Cold spraying is a high kinetic coating technology using inert, so sluggish in reaction, gases and pressures with up to 40 bar and gas velocities over 1 000 m/s to accelerate metal particles very powerfully. When impacting on the component surface, these particles create dense, highly adhesive coats that are very low on oxide. Cold spraying enables the production of coats providing the identical compounding as the original powder.
The substrate is not fused, a cold-kinetic compaction-process, in which the particles are applied to the component surface in solid state.
